Don't Accept Defeats, Accept Challenges

Tonight at the lovely DP Martial Arts, we were learning different kicks. At first I was SO EXCITED. They looked fun, and I thought 'that shouldn't be too hard'. Well I was wrong! Something about my form and my kick just felt off. I would take it slow and focus on my feet and still, something wasn't right. I was getting so frustrated on the inside and wanted to just step back from the bag. Not only was my form off but I kept hitting with the wrong part too!
Now there are two things you can do in this situation, either accept defeat or accept the challenge. Accepting defeat means walking away; never walk away on yourself. You are either your biggest supporter or your worst enemy. The choice is up to you. My advice, always accept the CHALLENGE and work harder.
Now, I'm going to be honest. I still didn't get it by the end of class. That is something you must know going into any area of fitness; You never stop learning, you never stop growingand that means you never stop challenging yourself. You aren't going to be perfect at everything and not everything will come easy. The challenge is the best part. The satisfaction and feeling of conquering something that was once seemingly impossible, is unlike anything else.
Challenges make us stronger, mentally and physically. They show us that we can conquer what we set our minds to and that nothing is impossible. Key words: set your mind to. As I always say and repeat myself a million times, YOUR MINDSET IS THE DETERMINING FACTOR. It is your mind that needs the convincing, not your body.
Next time you are faced with a challenge, I hope you remember to ACCEPT and CONQUER. You are stronger than you know.
