I Finally Started Meal Prepping

Updated: Nov 27, 2018

For SO long, I have watched my friends meal prep and they tell me how easy it makes eating healthy. After many FAILED attempts later, I FINALLY started meal prepping.

I know what you're thinking, WOW Jess - you are a chef and a half! ;) I try.

Anyways, to eat healthy, or go on a diet you really have to be on top of every meal. Let's be honest, cooking every meal as a young adult just doesn'tand will not happen. For whatever reason, we get busy,we get lazyand BOOM Burger King is back in our lives... or at least mine. Many people just don't have the time to cook 3 times a day and make sure it's healthy. If you are a rare human and do that, please tell me your secrets.

Storytime: I started meal prepping because I've always talked about eating healthy, started and failed, OR just kept it as an"I'm gonna" thought. I bought a bathing suit the other day and I wasn't confident in it. I have always worked out but my bad eating habits seem to over power that when it comes to my nonexistent abs. (Technically they are there.. just hidden atm). ANYWAYS, last Sunday night I found time to go foodshopping and meal prepped my dinners for the week.

I COULDN'T BELIEVE how easy it really was. It really didn't take that long either. So far, it is 100% worth it - minus if you're like me and go to work forgetting your dinner. Well you're trying and that's all that matters.

I definitely think it is an essential part of starting GOOD eating habits if you're busy like me. Now, some people might have more time and don't need to do this, but let me tell you IT MAKES IT SO EASY.

Tips To Meal Prepping:

  1. Pick A Day Choose whichever day you are LEAST busy to meal prep. Whether it is Sunday night, Monday, or Thursday. Pick a day you know you will have some free time and won't be exhausted from life.

  2. Make Your Meals Different Find ways to make the meals somewhat a variety. I usually do chicken and rice but will mix up my sides. One day spinach, one day broccoli, one day baked sweet potatoes. You don't want the exact same thing everyday.

  3. Be Prepared Kind of relating to my previous point, KNOW WHAT YOU NEED. Go grocery shopping and know what you want to prep for the week. If you end up missing something, the likelihood of you going back to the store is very slim.

  4. You Can Meal Prep Lunch Too or Even Breakfast If you don't have much time during the day, meal prep for lunch and breakfast. It's important you eat enough throughout the day when you're trying to eat healthy. For breakfast you can meal prep overnight oats or breakfast burritos. For lunch you can do salads/quinoa salads. BOOM, no need to skip what you have already made.

I hope you all enjoyed today's post and I hope it gives you that little boost you need if you've been prolonging meal prepping and eating healthy.

Until Next Time,

Your Sunflower
