My Secret To Monday's

Updated: Nov 27, 2018

Whenever someone asks me what my favorite day of the week is, I always reply with MONDAY! 9 times out of 10 people think that is the strangest thing ever said. We have this preconceived notion that Monday is going to be terrible. Work and school will be terrible. You'll have to struggle to get through the day. Why is it society has made us think that? That being said, I figured I'd give you my cure to the Monday blues and let you in on my secret to why I love Monday.

Reasons to LOVE Monday:

Monday's mean you have an entire week ahead of you. 7 Days to get whatever you need done. You have all the time in the world, make it count. Get that to-do list out and conquer it. It's like a new beginning, a fresh start. Make the choice not to be lazy and get up and get things done.

With Monday comes all potential of the week. Opportunities to go on an adventure, to start a new hobby, try new things, cook a new meal, make a new kind of sangria, excel at your work, meet new people, the list goes on. There are so many things to look forward to in a day, especially when you have 6 more days in the week!

As a follow up to number 2, be happy and look forward to the possibilities of the week. What crazy schedule do you have for the week? Taco Tuesday? Wine Wednesday? Sunday funday? Each day holds moments to look forward to, memories to create, and lets be honest the potential for a million awkward moments.

What have you been wanting to do? We all are guilty of pushing things off until Monday. Whether its that new diet to get you in shape, that class you finally are going to start, that trip you have been wanting to plan. Well now it's Monday and you've probably pushed it off for a week already, so DO IT!

Get inspired. Reflect on the life you are living and the potential you have to make it even better. How far will you go this week? Ignite that fire and that passion inside of you. Create a desire to succeed in whatever you are trying to accomplish.

It's this weird thing we have as a society that we can't start going to a gym or working out until a Monday. Why? I have no idea, but the amount of times I've heard 'I'll start on Monday' is COUNTLESS. No more excuses, GO TO THE GYM. You'll feel amazing after and wonder why you waited so long.

You have 4 more days until the weekend, what adventure are you going on? What are you going to do with your days off. Are you going on a road trip? Trying that new restaurant that just opened? Or maybe having a night with the boys? Or a wine night with the girls?

If I haven't given you enough reasons to LOVE Mondays by now, maybe I can cure your Monday Blues. For whatever reason we let ourselves get stuck in the thought process of 'Monday... 4 more days until the weekend' or 'Ugh it's only Monday today is going to suck'. BUT WHY. Optimism and Positivity are the KEY to a good Monday. The only reason you wake up and think Monday is terrible is because YOU HAVE DECIDED what it is going to be already. YOU have put those words into the world to come true.

My Cure to the Monday Blues:

  1. COFFEE Whether you make it or go to your favorite coffee shop, coffee (or tea) will add a great start to the day. A little boost of energy, the warmth and comfort, and well like hatred for Mondays we just believe coffee is the answer to everything.

  2. Shed light into your day Get up and find something positive to start the day. Whether it is the weather, your cute outfit, that cup of coffee that woke you up, or something to look forward to. Start on a good note, with a good thought, and a reason to be happy about the day ahead.

  3. What are your goals - GET MOTIVATED Motivate yourself, its Monday! What are you going to do? How are you going to make this week different from last? How will you step out of your comfort zone and conquer the world? How will you make a difference in your day? Think about your goals and your end destination, not the sadness of where you are or if you're stuck at a point in your life. Think of how you are going to go further and get out.

  4. You really only hate Monday because everyone else does As the man in my church would say,KEEP IT REAL! And that's what I'm doing. YOU ONLY HATE MONDAY BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT SOCIETY HAS TOLD YOU. Tell me why you hate Monday. What makes it worse than any other day? Mondays have been pre-decided for decades and only because YOU say you hate it. Because YOUR FRIEND says they hate it.

It's funny when you sit back and wonder how this hatred for Monday's came to be. It's become an ice breaker for conversation, a relatable concept, and an UNNECESSARY use of negativity. Shed light into your day. Positivity into your mind. Be optimistic about the possibilities ahead of you. Even if your job sucks, or if you don't know what to do with your day, always ponder the potential for greatness. Like happiness, your day is decided by YOU. It is YOUR CHOICE to make the day what you will. Be happy. Be Positive. Realistically, any day has potential to be bad. It isn't just because it's a Monday and you're back at work or school. Anything can happen at any time.

What makes the difference is how you see the day, how you take the good and bad news you get, how you keep moving forward, how you choose to be happy, how you make the effort to make it a good day.

Until Next Time,

Your Sunflower
